Nourishing the Child Within:
The Art of Renewing Our Body & Mind

A Holiday Mindfulness Retreat    (CANCELLED)

Holiday Retreat Update
We would like to update you regarding our Holiday Retreat 2008.  Currently at Blue Cliff Monastery we are in the process of winterizing our buildings, which are structurally not designed to operate efficiently during the winter.  At the moment, we have to shut down a couple of our buildings for the winter because we are not able, financially, to winterize them. And from our experience of last year, we are unable, financially, to maintain them for the winter due to the price of electricity and oil.   For this reason, we have to cancel the holiday retreat for this year.  However, we still have accommodations available for singles, couples, and families with children and teens who would like to spend the holidays at Blue Cliff.  For weekly stays, we have about 40 beds and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, we will have additional dormitory spaces available for an overnight stay. You can register using the general registration form. Our schedule will be similar to our weekly schedule, which can be found under the general registration information, with additional activities for teens and children.  If you are interested in spending the holidays at Blue Cliff, please register soon as space is limited.  Thank you for your understanding and patience.

The Path of the Buddha
Buddhist elements for a Global Ethic

Annual 21 Day Retreat held in Plum Village, France

All great spiritual traditions of the world have teachings and practices to offer toward a Global Ethic.  This Ethic can be presented in the kind of language that non-sectarian so that everyone, including atheists and agonistics, could accept.  Buddhism with its training to obtain insight, right view, its practice of true love (the 4 brahnasvitara) and of the precepts  (mindfulness trainings)  have much to offer to formulation of a Global Ethic, relevant to our time, when there are so much division, hatred, violence and despair, and when the planet earth is in peril.

This 21 day courses and retreat offered by the European Institute of Applied Buddhism will take place in its Plum Village Campus, France, from June  1st to June 21st, 2009 in the beautiful setting of Upper Hamlet, Lower Hamlet, New Hamlet and Son Ha, etc...

This Global Ethic will be considered as the spiritual dimension in our life.  Without bringing in our life a spiritual dimension, it will not be possible to assure the survival of our planet.  If each citizen of the Earth is guided by the light of this Global Ethic, our political & economic leaders will abide by the spirit of interbeing and compassion, then everything will be possible again.
